In LOVE - Shoes & Bags

A pair of coloured heels together with an art inspired handbag.

For the walk-in closet in my Château I bought some wonderful lshoes and bags made out of leather at the exhibition in Rheda, all in size 1:12. The shoes are so small, so detailed.  I wish I could make the shoes and bags size 1:1 (that's a 'keep dreaming Vall' situation for me haha).

These heels with a matching bag are perfect for a summery day!

The front and back of these bags are different, so they can be worn with different outfits.

Two more bags for the walk-in closet. I love the natural colours.

Kitchen in progress

In my previous post about the woven chair (click here if you like to read it) I said that I would continue making mini's last night and I did, today I used some time for it too and I am planning to work some more on it tonight. I want to make my own kitchen for Château Vanille. Although my mother has different miniature saws I started to work with matboard (2mm thick) for this project and I love it. It is easy to cut with a knife and even with scissors.

My father designs kitchens so he told me about the measurements of a real scale kitchen which I've converted to 1/12 scale. In my dollhouse I have an huge room 'labeled' as kitchen, but I wanted to make a standard, basic kitchen and use the left space for a dining table and a big cabinet (still hopefull plans and dreams). The sketch in the left top was a quick draw that my father made. I flipped the whole thing as I wanted the refrigerator on the left side instead of right. I made the drawing on the left to calculate and convert the measurements. Will be continued soon!

Sit down and relax...

Last evening and today I've spent some hours on weaving a wicker chair and hocker for Château Vanille. It was the first time I wove something with real (wax) wickerthread, before I've only made one headboard for a bed with a sort of natural rope. I can say I'm happy with the end result (when I just started off I asked myself continiously: do I have enough thread? How can this become a chair? Am I weaving the right way? Now I can answer these question with a yes haha!)
The little book on the hocker is about chocolate and is in Dutch, the title of the book is: "Chocolade Liefhebbers", which means: Chocolate Lovers. I wish I could sit down and relax in the chair together with a big bunch of choclate, but instead I continue making mini's tonight :).

Oil painting of the Wisley Church

I've been through all my boxes of miniatures lately to collect all the tiny, fragile miniatures which are precious to me so I could carefully 'stuff' them all together in one box. One piece I couldn't find anymore was this oil painting made by Irene Stilgoe. I bought it on a miniature fair in March, so not even that long ago. Today I was at my parents' place and went to some bags and boxes of my mums miniature collection. I knew I left some workshopkits there. Finally I found it, it was between those kits. I am happy to have it located it again so it can be kept in a box during the building process of my miniature house. But first I would like to share it with you :)

At this picture you can see the original Wisley Church.
The Church is located in the small village Wisley in Surrey, United Kingdom.

Irene Stilgoe has a family company in hand made miniatures; Click HERE to go to their website.
Note: The website is still under construction.

Sniffy and his tissue

Hi all, this is Sniffy, the mouse I found in the kitchen while he was searching for some healthy stuff and tissues as he caught a cold last week.

Sniffy and Mathilde are walking through the kitchen. Sniffy discovered the tissue box and Mathilde some fruity vitamintablets full of vitamin C!

While Sniffy tries to wipe his nose with 'the big people's tissue', Mathilde finally climb up the tissue box to bring Sniffy an enormous vitamin C tablet she found in one of the drawers behond them.

But Sniffy is still trying with all his manpower to get a little piece of the tissue to bring along.

Unfortunately he became very tired, so Mathilde made him a nice, cosy place to lay down and to catch some rest. While Sniffy was trying to get along with the tissue box, she found a package of milk in one of the dollshouses in the 'big people's house'.

Sniffy is feeling a little bit better now due to the help of Mathilde!

It took me about a week to create Sniffy, which was a lot of fun to give him his "sick and sneezing" character with half closed eyes. I hope to create some friends and relatives for Sniffy in the upcoming weeks.

Kakelugn, my hot Swedish friend!

It all started with the picture on the right side of my banner... a real Kakelugn. But what is a Kakelugn?

A Kakelugn is a tiled heater, made of (as the name already says) soft baken tiles. It is a heater that only needs one hour to get hot and provides after this hour a comfortable temperature for the upcoming 12 hours.
It works like a fireplace. You place wood in the small hole, fire it and close the doors. The whole heater gets the hot temperature and it ventilates through the holes on top of the Kakelugn or it's attached to the airsystem of the house like a fireplace is.

The Kakelugn I made is out of order and used as decoration with a candle inside. I want to make some more decoration for around the candle, like some dried flowers.

The Kakelugn with it's doors closed

The air holes on top of the Kakelugn

A burning candle

A close-up from the candle (bad quality, but shows the ambiance)
